I have a built in over-the-range frigidaire microwave that just stopped heating food the other day ...........?
The power works and the turntable is turning but the food etc won't heat. I have had it 9 years since moving in to condo.
Sears charge $129.00 plus parts if needs to come out and attempt a repair
How irritating if they can't fix t and I have to suck up that cost and buy a new one - have old one taken out at cost and new one installed at cost
I could buy anew counter-top very cheaply and just forget the over the range stainless steel but it would bug me - a defunct appliance just sitting there - built in - unused.

Yea, this is a tough one.
First, it being 9 years old, I would say goodbye to it. So don't go the repair route.
Now pulling that out is very easy. It's just a couple of screws underneath, and someone to help hold it with you.
so I would pull it out. Once it's out, you can decide if you can live with a counter top version.
Next option is, it maybe a standard size, so through it in your car and go to an appliance store. Not sears, or home depot, but an appliance store. Ask the sales guy if there is a replacement. If there is, they will probably reinstall it.
In fact, let's go back one step. Call an appliance store and tell them your situation. Have the model number (should be inside the door) and maybe the overall measurements. They maybe able to tell you over the phone if it's replaceable.
Lastly, I am a handyman, and in my years I have seen many kitchens with a old nonworking built-in microwave and a new working microwave on the counter.
